Derrlings,
Though URANUS seems to be the only planet currently in retrograde, (and no, we’re not making a Uranus joke, it’s too easy! It's too trashy! Honestly, you’d have to be urasshole to do it. 😉😏🕳️) many things have seemed to be out of alignment lately. Anyone else experiencing this?? Do you have a celestial take on last week being a bit of a shit show? OR DO WE JUST HAVE TO ACCEPT THIS WITH NO WOO WHATSOEVER. (Did you notice that the “d” that began two sentences prior was not hyperlinked?! Blame it on the stars. Or us. We’ll see.) (Also, reminder to the editor not to fix hyperlink "mistakes" until finishing reading.) (Note from editor - I fully did fix the “D” then went back to “unfix” it when I finished reading this paragraph, so thanks for the call out)
Anyway, despite minor miscommunications, minimized city “fairs” that were actually MASSIVE STREET-CLOSING TO-DOs that almost forced us to cancel a weekend of *sold out* shows, illnesses, and some randomly crumbling furniture… we're actually doing great? Or at least a ROBUST FINE. And WHY are we still doing fine? Because of the kindness of ding-dang-darlings and the bright human lights that shine on our stage and remind us of all the good stuff. Also because of cute dogs and good food etc. So whether you’re on top of the world or being crushed by a cosmic moment, may we recommend a night at the theatre (cosmopolitan spelling)? Most specifically, ours. But also, really, any! Go see stuff. Support artists. Enjoy life. And find sneaky flirty little ways to say FUCK THE TAXMAN. ;) Or better yet, can we just CHOOSE where our taxes are going? Because if it was up to US!? Honey. Our unhoused neighbors would be housed, policing would be dismantled and reimagined, and TRAFFIC COPS OF RIGHTEOUS JUSTICE would roooooam these streets looking for driving etiquette errors. “NO POLITE WAVE!? After that guy let you in!? You are sentenced to being duct taped to the top of a Waymo, the TRUE soulless driver." "NOT FULLY PULLED INTO THE INTERSECTION FOR A LEFT HAND TURN!? Lethal injection." Etc.

❤️ TUESDAY, 9/17, 7:30PM: JAKE CORNELL is a New York City comedian and actor who has built an audience of hundreds of thousands through his standup and characters. Jake’s show Man & Woman ran at the Edinburgh Fringe festival in 2022 followed by a US tour. His new show, Hey Big Guy, is kicking off a national tour this July starting off with a sold out show at Joe’s Pub. He has been featured in New York Magazine, Vogue and Nylon.
🤖 🌈 WEDNESDAY, 9/18, 7:30PM: Palatable Gay Robot
🚨 LOW TICKET WARNING 🚨
Funny, fantastic, and completely unique.
Meet HumaVibe’s latest device, Billie Bowtie. Programmed to be the perfect performer, Billie must entertain the audience while remaining “palatable.” But when his material grows rusty, Billie downloads a personal history that leads to some unsettling questions. Which parts of ourselves are we willing to hide? How gay is too gay? And is San Diego-style hip-hop really a f***ing thing? With growing pressure from the Moderator to suppress his sentience, Billie glitches through standup, characters, song, dance, and storytelling to land in a place of true humanity.
Palatable Gay Robot is equal parts smart and absolutely stupid. Broadway actor and comedian, STEPHEN BROWER, will leave you feeling joyful, inspired, and…a bit more sentient.
Starring STEPHEN BROWER
Directed by ZACHARY PRINCE
Produced by ALAN KLIFFER
