Sweet Summer Darlings,
As things develop across the country and world that could only be described as "UH-OH!" we are reminded why we opened our venue here in Los Angeles: Escape, baby! At least temporary escape! As we tell our staff, as soon as anyone walks through the doors of Dynasty (note to self, "The Doors of Dynasty" needs to be something), they should be able to leave their every day behind them and enter our realm of enchantment where everyone is like SO KIND. That goes for them, our lovely audience, and the wonderful talent that we host on our stage. Even the delivery drivers should feel like they are entering a magical space as they leave boxes of popcorn, hot Dynasty merch, and sometimes rat bones. To that end we are nice and generally offer them water. And THAT'S The Dynasty Difference!™ By the way, we have a hot new Dynasty t-shirt, a relic of a bygone Dynasty Bed & Breakfast in New England where very specific brands of tomfoolery were encouraged, or at least tolerated to the point of celebration and merchandising. Anyhoo, this coming week at Dynasty starts where last week left off, with so many shows that make us flarpin' pinch ourselves! And like last week, most of them are also being livestreamed! MONDAY, 7/15, 7:30PM: DAVE AHDOOT: Ethnically Ambiguous
DAVE AHDOOT’S enigmatic shade of brown has helped him land parts in over 40 TV ads for huge brands like Ford and McDonald’s. In this high-energy solo show set to debut at Edinburgh Fringe this summer, Dave presses play on his biggest TV milestones, including his very first speaking part and the ad he’s still mocked for today. Follow Dave on his humbling journey from “token ethnic guy with no lines” to “token ethnic guy who just might have been hired for his talent”.
Dave Ahdoot has appeared as a frequent guest on The Tonight Show, and has performed at over 300 universities across the country. He recently executive produced, wrote and starred in the NBC Digital series Dave and Ethan: Lovemakers, which Vulture hailed as “brutally awkward and hilarious”. He was also a writer on HBO’s Emmy-nominated Night of Too Many Stars, hosted by Jon Stewart. He currently is recurring on the TBS/Roku series Chad.

Back in the '80s, when MICHAEL AUSIELLO was a closeted gay teen living in small-town New Jersey, he penned 517 episodes of a daytime soap opera, titled Beverly Hills. Miraculously, he saved every handwritten script. Now, four decades later, some of the biggest names in comedy will come together to perform a 60-minute reading of a self-contained story arc that found six of Beverly Hills’ most popular characters travelling overseas for a life-or-death adventure. Although some of Teenage Michael’s atrocious spelling has been cleaned up for this theatrical experience, the scenes will be performed exactly as they were written nearly 40 years ago. For better or worse.

The Hilarious Test is a brand new game show; a one-of-a-kind comedy assessment administered live by “Doctor” David Brown and “Doctor” Danny Catlow. One comedian guest, assisted by a panel of comedian friends, will undergo a series of comedic experiments to test their comedy chops. Will our subject be escorted from the stage in shame? Or will they reach the exalted status of being “Certified Hilarious”?

NEPO DADDY is a staged live comedy pilot reading that sweatily asks: how do you make yourself a nepo baby? The story follows Chloe, a struggling NYC actor who fumbles a half-hearted suicide attempt in a semi-public way. Dealing with the recent loss of her mother and her own social media-fueled mania, Chloe discovers the unexpected potential for opportunity when her blue collar father Geoff gets a job at 30 Rock — as a security guard.
