Hello sweet Darlings,
April (or 🧚♀️ FAEpril as we are calling it here because FUN) is well underway, and we’re pleased as punchbowls to offer you a place to escape le reality which is increasingly… how do you say… “bad.” Our calendar offers a plethora of options to distract and delight. In a post-White Lotus, plummeting stock-market world, we KNOW you need them. We’ve been quite busy round here and now that DYLAN has been unsubscribed, we’re one burden lighter. We haven’t had too many more frustrating, enraging emails, except one man who replied to the DYLAN email with simply “oof.” We couldn’t tell which side of history he was on, so we didn’t reply. Perhaps it was an “oof” of sympathy, offering support for small businesses who take on the unnecessary weight of basically anonymous and unfounded criticism. Perhaps it was basically anonymous and unfounded criticisms! Whatever! We’re certainly not going to let an ambiguous three letter reply occupy mental real estate. OOPS!
This spring, we’re wishing you well, and we’re wishing you WELLS. And while we’re at it, we’re wishing you springs. Access to natural water sources is a recurring mental theme for us, especially in times of uncertainty. Currently, JAM(ie) is enjoying the natural splendor of the central coast, and VAN(essa) is bracing for the unnatural splendor of civic duty and coming to terms with the reality she’s not getting backyard chickens any time soon. 😞 That’s a long story you want no involvement in, and has many pieces. Some of the pieces: 🧩 Really wanting some lil’ Malaysian chickens. 🧩 ring-camera footage of a cute huge raccoon that visits all the houses in her neighborhood. 🧩 A harrowing story someone told at a birthday party about a raccoon chicken-murder situation. Ok, those were basically the whole thing. The price of eggs is still lower than the weight of this particular trauma.
Meanwhile, we’re attempting to keep breathing, keep evolving, and keep our hearts as open and soft as possible, whilst projecting a thorny, near-impenetrable exterior to scare off any potential aggressors. According to sages (several online astrology meme accounts) today is the last day of about four months of retrograde, so the times they have a CHANGED. Only 5 days until the day these accounts have told us our world will be totally different, so who knows what to expect for next weeks’ newsie. Maybe it will be a HoLoGrAm!

The L Word: A Photographic Journal showcases more than 400 rarely seen, extraordinarily candid photographs taken by JENNIFER BEALS on the set and behind the scenes of The L Word. JENNIFER attended Yale University, receiving a B.A. in American Literature in 1987; she deferred a term so she could film Flashdance. JENNIFER has appeared in several notable films and is also well known for her support of women’s and gay rights.
