Haaappy New Yearrrr!
And to those of you who celebrated with us at the theater in epic sold-out fashion, an EXTRA happy new year. We had the time of our life Sunday/into Monday- JAM(ie) hosted with flarpin’ aplomb, which grew aplombier (drunker?) by the hour, the line-up was ALL STAR (meaning, a group of top-notch shining talented humans, not having anything to do with the Smash Mouth HIT, RIP), the DyNasties (led by b-day boy and now our full time Head of Productions Sam) were dynamite (and/though they didn’t play “All Star” by Smash Mouth), the audience was sweetie-pie HQ, the vibe was so very New Year’s, and the only mouths gettin’ smashed were the firm kisses of lovers n’ dreamers welcoming the new year. VAN(essa) was sadly on the WRONG COAST but watched all the security cameras like a freak, which is honestly the next best thing. Oh, and GM Missy now has a 5th career as a balloon installation artist (honestly, we all saw this coming miles away).
For those who observe/are destroyed by Mercury Retrograde... it's now over! So if you’ve been mired in a low-key (or high key) shitshow for the last little while, perhaps a new leaf is about to turn. And we’re praying for a looooovely leaf full of health and vitality and creativity and output and expression! (Or a WaCkY TobAckkkkiE leaf LOL! Maybe that’s what the Smash Mouth fellers were smoking when they penned that gorgeous earworm. LOL! 🪱)
We’re PUMPED about 2024, if scarred by the swiftly punctured optimism of years past (looking at you, 2020.) May this be the year we have more creative output, actualize more characters from the DynaVerse, make our plumber (plumbeAr!? how are we just now seeing that? of course he’s a plumbear) Sludgy™ an INTERNATIONAL BATHROOM ETIQUETTE SENSATION, produce more specials, keep innovating in the corn-space, and get abs all over our bodies. We want our forearms to have a 16 pack.

♀️ TONIGHT! TUESDAY, 7:30PM: DOUG BENSONS Movie Interruption.
DOUG BENSON (SUPER HIGH ME, @midnight) and some of his comedy friends are gonna sit in the front row of the theater with mics, cracking wise during a screening of a movie that YOU choose. That’s right, audience members are encouraged to bring a dvd/blu ray of a film they would like to see ripped apart (lovingly) and a vote will be held to determine which one we watch.

MARC MARON is back with another Dynasty residency! He has released five hit stand-up comedy specials throughout his career. His most recent, “FROM BLEAK TO DARK” premiered on HBO February 11, 2023 and received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Maron’s other specials include “END TIMES FUN” (2020) on Netflix, which was nominated for a 2021 Critics’ Choice Award, “MARC MARON: TOO REAL”(2017), MORE LATER” (2015) on Epix, and “THINKY PAIN” (2013). Plus he has a popular podcast! You LOVE podcasts!
FRIDAY, 7:30PM: Pencils Down! TV Writers Try Out New Jokes Scribes from some of your favorite Emmy-nominated TV shows break out of the writers’ room and test out their newest stand-up material onstage.

SATURDAY, 12:00PM: Squeezing a Sketch from Improv with KEVIN MCDONALD After Kevin talks about Sketch comedy and writing through improv, he gets the students up, 3 or 4 at a time to improvise scenes. Then he helps develop the scenes into comedy sketches. At the end of the workshop, the students will perform their new sketches and Kevin will give them notes.

SUNDAY, 12:00PM: One Line Premise with KEVIN MCDONALDS
This is a writing workshop. Each student must bring in a one line premise for a comedy sketch like “What if a guy was $10 short of being a millionaire”. Kevin talks about writing sketches and then hears the premises from the students. Kevin and the group help each student with thoughts how their premise can be made into a script for a comedy sketch. Then Kevin wants the students to go home and write out the sketches, send them to Kevin who will send back notes for the newly written sketches.

Comedian/writer/actor Joe Mande was most recently a Co-EP on the critically-acclaimed HBO Max show Hacks. He also wrote for all four seasons of THE GOOD PLACE on NBC. Other writing credits include three seasons on PARKS AND RECREATION as well as MASTER OF NONE on Netflix, FOREVER on Amazon, and KROLL SHOW on Comedy Central. As an actor, he recurs on HACKS, and has appeared on shows like PARKS AND REC, KROLL SHOW, and MODERN FAMILY. He has been the featured comedian twice on CONAN, as well as LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS and numerous Comedy Central programs. Joe’s first comedy album, “Bitchface,” was released by Greedhead Records and is available online. His one hour special, JOE MANDE’S AWARD-WINNING COMEDY SPECIAL can be seen on Netflix.
