Spring has offish sprung, and we have a full worm moon tonight 🪱 (maybe it started around 3 am but we’re told WORM MOON ENERGY extends into the day.) And you know what? Let’s take a minute to think about worms. A lot of folks might think “yuck” or “gross” but worms are actually fantastically helpful for gardens, harmless, and can’t have ugly faces since they don’t (traditionally speaking at least) even HAVE a face. Also for the #mathheads out there, cutting a worm in half does not make two worms, it makes one dead worm. So maybe tonight, with that WORM MOON ENERGY, we can re-evaluate things we’ve previously labeled as gross, and find their positive qualities.  And when you find those good qualities don’t try to exploit them (going back to the 2 severed halves of a worm is one whole corpse situation) appreciate it in its totality. So tonight’s FULL MOON CHALLENGE is this: Ask yourself “What’s MY worm and how can I love it and appreciate it for what it is instead of being disgusted by it?” If you want to get real witchy about it, you can scrape the name of your “worm” into a candle and burn it by the light of the moon. View Our Calendar Here →  Dearest Dynasty Darlings, People are always asking us things like "Why is this place called Dynasty Typewriter!?" and "How did you come up with the idea for a plumbassador named Sludgy?!" and "What the hell is going on in those [fruit flattening/singing pig/sexual horse/rat pet/etc.] videos you play before your [amazing/life changing/gorgeously produced] livestreams?!" and "Which of the 17 IPA's from Paperback Brewing that you offer is the hoppiest?!" and "What really IS A Dynasty Darling?!" and "Can you explain to me what a bog baby is and what it has to do with this venue where I came to see [Tig Notaro/PFT/Reggie Watts/Lauren Lapkus/Marc Maron/etc.]?!" and "Why do you give away so many high value items at your Dynasty Tonight! shows?!" And "How do you have the chutzpah to start a newsletter with eight consecutive questions without an answer [and oddly selected color accents]?!"  Honestly, who's to say! But we will say that a lot of our ideas come to the surface when we get away from the theater for a few days and are reminded that there's more to life than just the endless thoughts and pressures constantly swirling through our noggins. You know, both the societal kind and the self-imposed kind, illusory or real. So last week while Jenny Yang was putting on her wonderful monthly Self-Help show, and Rob Zabrecky was shooting two mesmerizingly special specials and Patrick Stewart was dropping by to play on Mega!, we were 2.5 hours away in Pioneertown, seeing live music, communing with nature and the universe, watching every episode of the American Gladiator documentary (well worth it, in our very humble opinion), experiencing not-so-great customer service that reminded us why kindness is the core of the Dynasty experience, and mainly getting to play and dream for a couple days, removed from the day to day LA grind. We got back just in time to host a truly magical Dynasty Tonight! show, where we opened by reminding the audience that: No one there was in trouble!, No one there was disappointing anyone!, and that We all had permission to have a weird, wonderful time! And with a great line-up and house band The Dynasties on point, it was just that. So let this be our semi-regular Dynasty reminder to you that it's important to get away when you can, even for a day or two! And if you can't, we always want Dynasty to feel like a retreat from your every day. So you know, come on over, you're always invited! So yeah, we put up our boundaries and encourage etiquette cause baby, we STAY FRAGILE. Maybe it’s not a good look to have soft spots in a Big Apple, but here in the city of angels… it’s fine. And THEN we had a killer sold-out TIG NOTARO show, and on Saturday one of the absolutely SILLIEST  Dynasty Tonight!s we’ve had in a minute, featuring HATS! DANCING! and LAST LOOKS. You really should’ve been there. But come join us on the 10th and 14th, because we’ll do something equally strange and exciting. And last night we were treated to one of the absolute greats, DEBRA DIGIOVANNI, recorded her next album here, and… it was SO GOOD. This is the last newsie of January! It’s been scientifically proven that though the first 12 days of January fly by at wild speed, the remainder of the month actually becomes 3,912 days, and we hate to see her leave but we looooove to watch her and all her unrealistically high expectations go. And for us she’s going out with THREE *SOLD OUT* Dina Martina shows that we, as a collective, are flarpin’ HOT and BOTHERED for. (FYI, usually one says that one is hot and bothered BY something, but we are hot and bothered FOR this. We ran this by a Grammarian who CONFIRMED our use of the English language is both masterful and “unexpected.” Wow. Accolades like that? At the beginning of a week? Yeah… it’s gonna be a good one. )  We had a bonkers week last week, with tapings and/or livestreams every ding-dang day, a killer Dynasty Tonight! and so much more activity that really lived up to our GOMO™ Guarantee (Guarantee Of Missing Out Guarantee™) . Meemaw Dynasty used to mutter, “G’on n’ wet your whistle, n' g’on n’ whet your appetite, but you whet my bed and... you’re good as dead.” She mostly muttered this in the prison where she lived out the last of her days. That sounds sad but it was all justified. Still, our hearts go out to anyone she… frightened. Don’t be ageist!  What we're trying to say is, cute lil Meemaws can be bad people too. Was your Meemaw (granny, grandma, bubby, etc.) a bad person, or at least wild and unpredictable? Is there a funny and not tragic story about that? Email us! We’ll pick the best #NastyMeemaw and give you FREE TICKETS to an upcoming show of your choice! We don’t personally have #NastyMeemaw stories but Van’s great granny used to knit afghans while she hunted deer (perched in an tree stand) and another one ate Vic’s Vapo-rub religiously, so that’s something. Jam’s grandma was lovely but once called PAT SAJAK (a man of average carriage) a “fat cow.” You can take that tidbit and read between the lines on how weight issues manifest in the Flam family.   We had a looooovely week, and the cherry on top was Saturday night’s Dynasty Tonight! It was an amazing show with thrusting, give-aways, a packed house, a seven piece band and a line-up of absolute stars! We’re going to continue our 2024 (self-serving) philanthropic tradition of extending a (limited amount) of free tickets to those who’ve never attended a Dynasty Tonight!
