And THEN we had a killer sold-out TIG NOTARO show, and on Saturday one of the absolutely SILLIEST  Dynasty Tonight!s we’ve had in a minute, featuring HATS! This is the last newsie of January! It’s been scientifically proven that though the first 12 days of January fly by at wild speed, the remainder of the month actually becomes 3,912 days, and we hate to see her leave but we looooove to watch her and all her unrealistically high expectations go. Meemaw Dynasty used to mutter, “G’on n’ wet your whistle, n' g’on n’ whet your appetite, but you whet my bed and... you’re good as dead.” She mostly muttered this in the prison where she lived out the last of her days. That sounds sad but it was all justified. Still, our hearts go out to anyone she… frightened. Don’t be ageist!  What we're trying to say is, cute lil Meemaws can be bad people too. Was your Meemaw (granny, grandma, bubby, etc.) a bad person, or at least wild and unpredictable? Is there a funny and not tragic story about that? Ramy is an expert storyteller, holding onto threads long after the audience forgets they’re there, tying everything together so causally and delightfully. If you weren’t there, all we can say is “Poor Thing”(s). Also, you KNOW we don’t kiss and tell, but we didn’t kiss him so we can tell… we had a DAFOE in DAHOUSE. Willem? We just met ‘im! WOW.  Thus far, our January has really been a PLANuary. We’ve been laying stones for the future, talkin’ strategy, and deciding which of our wild hares to chase first. Planning feels… unflirty. We’re so excited to get back into creative play mode, but also glad we’re getting a framework in place that will make our play more focused n’ fruitful (that’s also the name of a medicated cereal for ADHD folks we want to roll out this year). We had the time of our life Sunday/into Monday- JAM(ie) hosted with flarpin’ aplomb, which grew aplombier (drunker?) by the hour, the line-up was ALL STAR (meaning, a group of top-notch shining talented humans, not having anything to do with the Smash Mouth HIT, RIP), the DyNasties (led by b-day boy and now our full time Head of Productions Sam) were dynamite (and/though they didn’t play “All Star” by Smash Mouth), the audience was sweetie-pie HQ, the vibe was so very New Year’s, and the only mouths gettin’ smashed were the firm kisses of lovers n’ dreamers welcoming the new year. VAN(essa) was sadly on the WRONG COAST but watched all the security cameras like a freak, which is honestly the next best thing. Oh, and GM Missy now has a 5th career as a balloon installation artist (honestly, we all saw this coming miles away).  For those who observe/are destroyed by Mercury Retrograde... it's now over! So if you’ve been mired in a low-key (or high key) shitshow for the last little while, perhaps a new leaf is about to turn. And we’re praying for a looooovely leaf full of health and vitality and creativity and output and expression! (Or a WaCkY TobAckkkkiE leaf LOL! Maybe that’s what the Smash Mouth fellers were smoking when they penned that gorgeous earworm. LOL! 🪱)  We’re PUMPED about 2024, if scarred by the swiftly punctured optimism of years past (looking at you, 2020.)
