Greetings from Dynasty, darlings! Another Tuesday, another Newsday, another You’sday, and that’s very . Ok, this newsletter is off to a rocky start, but once you get past the rocks, you get into the deep beautiful waters, full of wild mysteries and unsolved fish’steries. Here’s the plan, we’ll start a new paragraph and hope to pull our flarpin' selves together! Last week was great, and we’ll tell you a few reasons why: Banjos n’ Bamford, thanks to Team Coco’s Frontier Tween! Drag Queens and Ass Draggin’, thanks to Trixie Mattel and Mary Beth Barone! Jak Knight, Zach Fox, and Matteo Lane deliiiighting the heck out of us and their fans. Upwards of 8 Lindt sales!  And the weekend was all about hot for teacher-teachers, thanks Joe “Mr. D” Dombrowski’s shows! Folks, we learned that the only thing rowdier than a bachelorette party on street drugs is a room full of over-worked under-paid public school teachers having a night off. They can whoop! They can holler! They can let us know how mad they are we don't serve alcohol yet! WE HEAR YOU.  This week is going to have a lot in common with last week, because it’s ALSO going to be great. TONIGHT it’s house favorite, Up & Up with MOSES STORM! Team Coco always books an amazing lineup and this month is no exception. It is, in fact, exceptional. REGGIE WATTS! TOM PAPA! BETH STELLING! LAURIE KILMARTIN! Sep’Timmmmber! This month always reminds us of the ol’ conversation starter, "If a month falls in the forest and no one sees it, will it ever be fall?” Who knows!? The Dalai Lama maybe/probably? Eh, whatever. We’re enjoying our segue into fall with shows that are both very HOT and verrrry cool.   This last week was a primo example.  Highlights? Glad you asked! Zach Sherwin’s Crossword Show was a masterpiece (as we’ve come to expect!) and we noticed a funny trajectory…🤔 last month he had Blossom, this month was Rachel Bloom… who's next? Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree? They are all synonyms! Ha! (Ok, we’ll leave the wordplay to Zach from now on, and huge shout out to Bing.com for the quick Bud Dupree find!) On Thursday Pete Holmes was wonderful and weird, and Pete gave a performance Jamie Flam described as “electric." Friday was Joe Mande's sold out show, and in addition to putting on a hell of an hour, he also brought one of the best merch selections we’ve had grace the theater. (Shirts! Lighters! Albums! Condoms? Yep!) Later that night, the BUTT boys brought their usual cheekiness (sorry, we got bit by the flarpin' wordplay bug and it’s still itchin’!) in a show that we were absolutely mooning over. Saturday we had the joy of another GO DAY! We got to hang out with our community, brag about our new WIRELESS MICS , get inspired by Brent Forrester, get a peek inside Atsuko Okatsuka’s creative process (it’s IMPERATIVE to muse aloud about make out sessions with your local pomeranian) and she taught us some hot choreo! Jamie and Vanessa CAME TO LIFE to the sound of Lizzo’s Juice, and we declared once again, that we are BORN TO DANCE. Jamie Flam described it as “electric." Now to teach our bodies to live up to our purpose. We’ll keep you posted. Then Saturday night, we had Jackie Kashian’s edition of Dynasty Tonight with a killer lineup. Jackie’s long set was amazing (of course! She’s really one of our favs),  the audience was maybe the best ever (sorry other audiences! This one was just so responsive, so present, so… so dang clappy!) and we had a drop in from ZACH GALIFIANAKIS! He set was a treat, and we were even more excited than last time he was here (we were very excited then too) because now we’ve seen and loved all of Baskets. He plays twins in that show, so his star power has DOUBLED! Last night we writhed to the epic musical genius of SNL's Beck Bennett and Gabe Noel. They’ve been working on their music in private for the last 15 years and WHAT AN UNVEILING it was. Lights! Fog! Drones! And a tiiiiiiny little guitar.  Someone described that as "electric." TONIGHT: At 7pm  we are so very excited to be hanging out with our TEAM COCO friends as they do a table read of their new scripted podcast, Frontier Tween. If you needed more than that title to sell you, (you have problems) here are some amazing things to note: IT’S FREE! (OMG!) And the cast is prettttty good: MARIA BAMFORD! TIM BALTZ! KERRI KENNEY! JEN JACKSON! And more. Yep: it’s got the Three Entertainment F's they teach you about at Hollywood University: FRONTIER material! FREE! and FLARPIN' GREAT CAST. See you tonight, konestoga kids!  But don’t leave once the wagon ride is over, because at 9pm we’re pushing Dynasty out of the past and into the future with JAK KNIGHT and ZACK FOX! There are a fewwww tickets left for this, so grab right now because it will sell out and we TRY to warn you about these things. WEDNESDAY we welcome the delightful MATTEO LANE and we’d wax on about him, but that show is sold out and we don’t want to rub that GOMO™ in too deep. But you should know that TRIXIE MATTEL is opening and  you should never wait to buy tickets again. THURSDAY is DRAG HIS ASS the show that simply refuses to tolerate f*ckboys a moment longer. Hosted by MARY BETH BARONE, guests will share their f*ckboy run ins via stand-up, storytelling, or multimedia presentation. This month’s ass draggers (first time we’ve used that talent category!) include GUY BRANUM, SASHEER ZAMATA, JOEL HIM BOOSTER and more. Come laugh, drag, and heal.  If you’re into dragging, let that mood drag on riiiight through FRIDAY because at 8pm it’s SAM PANCAKE’s  Hands Above Shoulders: Gay Guys Tell True Tales from the Trenches of Show Biz.  It’s one of those “title says it all” situations, and the lineup is certain to be chock full of stories and real good at telling ‘em. DREW DROEGE! ROZ DREZFALEZ! ARAM KIRAKOSIAN! ALEC MALPA! and DARRYL STEPHENS! Bring your teacups because we have a feeling there will be plenty of the hot stuff to sip. Then at 10pm, do you like America’s Got Talent? Well, regardless of how you answered that question we’ve got a show you might like. It’s America’s Talent… Rejects  They got buzzed n’ booed off stage before they even had a chance to do their thing.  This time, they will have the chance! And you can decide how you feel about that! Hey pool noodles! How was your Labor Day weekend? Full of splishin’ and delish’in? The DynaDarlings were treated to a good ol’ fashioned pool party at MAMA & PAPA FLAM’s in GRANADA HILLS (once called The Enchanted Hills, true story!) and it was every bit the chlorine dream that memories are made of. Music! Puzzy! H-O-R-S-E! Epic and intense pool fight where brother turned on brother and adults attacked children the way God Herself intended!  And then just like that, August went out with a bang of sunshine. The rays of light from last week over here included: Up & Up’s return after a month off, Lisa Loeb in concert, Major Entertainer and Neil Hamburger burgerin’ it up! Speaking of burgerin’ it up, juggler extraordinaire Michael Rayner burgered it up with FLARE using a parasol and a quarter pounder during a packed Dynasty Tonight that had it all. Afterwards we made way for another SOLD OUT Everything’s Great, this time with 1000% more scooters. And now, it’s September! TONIGHT, it’s got brains, beauty and raps, it's  The Crossword Show!  Host and creator ZACH SHERWIN has cooked up a ding-dang delightful puzzle, and now it’s up to RHEA BUTCHER, RACHEL BLOOM, and BARON VAUGHN to solve the dang thang. Darlings,  It’s the last of the dog days of summer, Aug dawgs! At least, we think it is. We’re not 100% sure on the Oxford dog days definish’ and HONESTLY in times like these who can be bothered to Bing something that intense? Anyway, this last week was a real rescued Golden Retriever-mix of a week (read: just lovely.)  Did you come to DynastyLand!? If so, you know. If you didn’t, then doubtless you’ve been suffering from a very merited case of GOMO (Guarantee Of Missing Out™) the last few days. Wednesday’s big event was a complete success, with amazing performances in the main show, followed by an epic after party featuring treats a' plenty (free Van Leeuwen Ice Cream! Free Verve coffee floats! Sweet darlings,  It’s going to be hard to focus on writing the newsletter because right now we’re buzzing about tomorrow night’s BIG SHOW! So, we’ll just lead with that and try to get the excitement out of our system and then proceed with all the other great stuff! TOMORROW NIGHT is DYNASTYLAND! We’re putting on a show with our friends at podcasts by Spotify (they’re more than just music, hunnnn) and we’re so excited. We’ve got a great lineup: DEMETRI MARTIN! BARON VAUGHN! BETH STELLING! ATSUKO OKATSUKA! OPEY OLAGBAJU! Music from JOHN-ROBERT and more! We’ll be playing post-show DYNGO (bingo, Dynasty style!) we’ll be MAKING cotton candy, and we’ll likely be wearing dumb outfits! We’ll have the theater all DOOTED UP and ready for action! It was great! There was a 1970's variety show in 2019- and it worked! BRAD PITT in Cutting Class was as attractive as you’d want him to be! SAM MORRIL played to a sold-out crowd and it was “electric” in there - Jamie Flam. (And yes, he had the same quote about Taylor Tomlinson, and he stands by BOTH. Also, Taylor opened for Sam, so it was double electric (boogie woogie woogie woogie.) CAMERON ESPOSITO was amazing on Saturday with a crowd full of the sweetest fans you ever did see. They were there to laugh! They were there to celebrate! Birthdays AND divorces! For any life change, make your destination… Dynasty! Sunday was a private rental for a KOREAN POP GROUP! The beautiful boys of Ateez made K-POP fans of all of us. Their loving audience brought them amazing gifts!  This note from our nightly tech-log from the K-POP show is going right in the scrapbook: THESE GUYS WERE REALLY FUNNY. I ENDED UP HAVING A FAVORITE AND HE WINKED AT ME. AND NOW I UNDERSTAND THEIR APPEAL AND WILL LIKELY BE A FAN UNTIL I PASS AWAY.  ONE GUY RECEIVED A GUDETAMA HAT AND ANOTHER GOT A SPARKLY JACKET. I COVETED THESE ITEMS AND IT MADE ME WISH THAT, IN MY YOUTH, I HAD SPENT MORE TIME LEARNING TO DANCE.  (We will keep the tech anonymous, unless you ask and then we will tell you.) Now onto this week! TONIGHT we welcome back Every Place I Cry, the improvised emo concert! Happy Dynasty newsletter day to all, We hope this note finds you well! We wish it could be written on parchment, rolled into a scroll, sealed with wax and delivered by a large clever bird. Alas, we're forced to settle for digital mail delivered by digital “chimp.” MOVING ON.  You know what can be rough? Life. We love sending you happy silly emails, and we love feeling (1) happy and (2) silly. But lately, truth be told, the weight of the world is nearly impossible to escape. We’ve been having unfortunate conversations like “what is our gun policy?” (answer: no guns!) and while enjoying our own families, thinking about all those who have been separated. While trying to create magical, childlike experiences, there are scores of children who are in the midst of unthinkable trauma at uncaring hands. What do we do with this? As a society? As creatives? As people with hearts? We’ll be voting, we’ll be making calls and sending letters, and we’ll be getting up every day attempting to center our hearts and minds around our mission, which is to do good and make good and help put some positivity in the world. This is not the content you came for! But we just wanted to let you know that we're aware a lot of us are feeling very “what’s the point.”  We’re tying to remember that the point is sometimes absurdity and happiness and escape. The point is opening our doors to great experiences and sharing them with great people. And hopefully all that good stuff can help energize us to work against all that bad stuff, and hopefully Dynasty becomes for many what it already is for us, a place full of love and humor and art and celebrations. Darlings! It’s August. The gustiest month of all! Ours has already gusted right in with gales of goodness. What sorts of goodness? The one-year Dynaversary of Workjuice was appropriately festive, we even got a dang cake (aw!) and handed out lil’ coffee cakes to our audience (coffee because, “work juice”.)  We got to live a real Oprah moment by taping a few coffee cakes under peoples chairs to surprise them! (WHO WANTS.... COFFEE CAKE?!?) Here’s to many more Oprah moments! May the ones in the future come with more money, cocker spaniels, and real estate in wine country. Thursday and Friday we welcomed in the Wine & Crime podcast and… if there’s one thing those true-crime heads love more than a gruesome story of murder and mayhem it’s... guzzling wine. They officially win for most raucous (but still lovely) crowd, which we honestly didn’t see coming! Gotta love a sleeper hit. Wino Crimos, we salute your gusto, but we do not envy the hangovers you must’ve had.  Saturday we had another beach blanket DYNGO Dynasty Tonight!
