Or at least a ROBUST FINE. And WHY are we still doing fine? Because of the kindness of ding-dang-darlings and the bright human lights that shine on our stage and remind us of all the good stuff. Also because of cute dogs and good food etc. So whether you’re on top of the world or being crushed by a cosmic moment, may we recommend a night at the theatre (cosmopolitan spelling)? Most specifically, ours. But also, really, any! Go see stuff. Support artists. Enjoy life. Funny how one (perhaps the one writing this note?) can believe themself to be a fully sane and operable human being one moment, and unravel into an unhinged person screaming indictments at their fellow humans from the sound proofish safety of their car the next! Well, to this morning’s traffic we say “THANK YOU TEACHER.” You gave us a pop quiz on patience and serenity, and we failed. We’ll work on that. 🔥 And to the other drivers on the road, we take back NOTHING. Our critiques were actually spot-on and you’ve all got a lot of room to grow too. 😈  It’s back to school time here in Los Angeles, which likely matters not to the readers of this note. But, if you want to get high on life the school-supplies aisles are BOPPIN’ right now. Smell the pencils! Marvel at the bounty of highlighters. Dream about the pencil case you wish you had when you were younger. (This is Van typing, in elementary school my friend had an epic tricked out pencil case with all sorts of buttons and compartments that I coveted. To that pencil case I say, Thank you Teacher. You taught me I yearn for whimsy and organization. My pencil case was a small plastic box. Because I am evolved, I forgive my parents for this injustice. WOW. 👼)  While the littluns are headed to school, why don’t you head yerself over to Dynasty?! Who needs book learnin’ when you can hang out with all the class clowns and/or anxiety ridden students who didn’t understand their neurodiversity, and/or the DrAmA KiDs?! Those venues would be afraid it might be confusing at best and incendiary at worst to do what we just did without a second thought. And what we did: add an L to the middle of the seemingly innocuous spelling of August to transform it from a ho-hum calendar month to a month that evokes SEXUAL FANTASY. Photo Recap: Nepo Daddy

On July 21st Dynasty Typewriter hosted NEPO DADDY, a staged live comedy pilot reading, hilariously explored the question: how do you make yourself a nepo baby? Chloe (Tawny Newsome), a struggling NYC actor, fumbled a half-hearted suicide attempt and discovered new opportunities when her blue-collar father Geoff (Matt Walsh) got a job at 30 Rock as a security guard. The event starred Tawny Newsome (STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS, SPACE FORCE) and Matt Walsh (MANHUNT, VEEP), with comedy from Jenny Yang (THE BROTHERS SUN, BUSY TONIGHT), and featured a talented cast including Niles Abston (DAVE), Rachel Pegram (KILLING IT), Alyssa Sabo (GASLIT), Ellory Smith (3x Emmy-nominated writer), and Vinny Thomas (PLATONIC). Hosted by Molly Lambert (Heidiworld, EVERYBODY’S IN LA), it was a night filled with laughs and no real nepo babies, because they all said no. Thanks to writer Nina Rogers, director Ursula Ellis, and producer Devon Albert-Stone for making it an unforgettable showbiz fantasy come to life.
