Dearest Darlings,
We write you today ON THE MOVE. We’re currently driving back from a whirlwind night in the very charming city of Guadalupe, California where we did what we do and we put on a flarpin’ show! Some of our dear friends are in the process of restoring a beautiful historic venue, The Royal Theater, and turning it into an arts complex for this community. Guadalupe is a beautiful small town with a wild history, including being the site of Cecil B. De Mille’s film The 10 Commandments in 1923. After filming, instead of moving or disposing of the epic Egyptian replica set pieces…. they buried them in the dunes because it was cost effective? And now there are a team of archeologists exhuming these historic pieces. As this was the 100th anniversary of the film (omg, they’ve been making movies for 100 years. That seems insane.) the town hosted a lil’ fest and we put on a comedy show! We brought ourselves and our bandleader SAMMY TWELVEFINGERS and had a mix of local comics and LA lovelies, including MIKE MENENDEZ and uber darling FRANKIE QUINOÑES. The show was sold out and sooooo fun. Sammy tickled the ivories, comics tickled funny bones, and no one tickled anything else thank flarpin’ god. When you think about it… we’re basically Cecil B. DeMille?! But instead of slingin’ 10 huge historic rules around, we’re writing the

After the show we wound up at JOCKO’S Steak House, then a house party featuring both lasers and haze, and now we’re driving back to the bosom of our beautiful city with our hearts full of happiness, Jamie’s car full of Solvang-sourced antiques, our ears full of the sounds of Sade, and Sammy Twelvefingers’ head absolutely filled up by new/vintage 20 gallon Stetson which takes up more room both physically and energetically than you can imagine.
Oh, guess what: We announced/released tickets for Tuesday’s ADAM SANDLER show yesterday, and it sold out in 8 minutes… and you guys… we got NO mean emails. We’re so proud 🥰

MONDAY, 7:30PM: Zilot & Other Important Rhymes Book Release
About the Book:
Emmy Award-winning and New York Times bestselling writer, comedian, and actor Bob Odenkirk and his daughter, illustrator Erin Odenkirk, present poetic nonsense for all ages perfect for fans of Shel Silverstein and Jack Prelutsky!
BOB ODENKIRK began writing these poems with his children when they were little, compiling the poetry into a homemade book entitled Olde Time Rhymes. He wanted Nate and Erin to understand that actual people had written the books the family loved to read and to instill in them the feeling that they could be writers and illustrators themselves. Almost twenty years later, when the Odenkirks found themselves quarantined under the same roof, they revisited these mostly silly, sometimes poignant works. It wasn't until Erin began to create illustrations to accompany the words, though, that the book grew to be something much bigger than an Odenkirk family treasure.
About the Authors:
BOB ODENKIRK is known for acting (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, the new AMC series Lucky Hank, and feature films like Greta Gerwig’s Little Women) and for writing lots of comedy sketches for TV shows (Saturday Night Live and Mr. Show with Bob and David). In fact, he’s been writing silly stuff his whole life because he sees the world as a mostly funny, pretty ridiculous place. Bob’s other books include A Load of Hooey, a collection of comedic essays, and Comedy Comedy Comedy Drama, his instant New York Times bestselling memoir, but Zilot & Other Important Rhymes is the thing he's most proud of in this world. His greatest wish is that you laugh today and he'd very much like to help make that happen.
ERIN ODENKIRK has been creating art as long as she can remember, having first found inspiration in drawing real and made-up animals. Now a graduate of Pratt Institute, she lives in Brooklyn, New York with a lot of pencils and one bunny. Erin hopes Zilot & Other Important Rhymes makes you chuckle, maybe even chortle, but mostly she hopes it inspires you to go make something “important.”
