So yeah, we put up our boundaries and encourage etiquette cause baby, we STAY FRAGILE. Maybe it’s not a good look to have soft spots in a Big Apple, but here in the city of angels… it’s fine. And THEN we had a killer sold-out TIG NOTARO show, and on Saturday one of the absolutely SILLIEST  Dynasty Tonight!s we’ve had in a minute, featuring HATS! DANCING! and LAST LOOKS. You really should’ve been there. But come join us on the 10th and 14th, because we’ll do something equally strange and exciting. And last night we were treated to one of the absolute greats, DEBRA DIGIOVANNI, recorded her next album here, and… it was SO GOOD. This is the last newsie of January! It’s been scientifically proven that though the first 12 days of January fly by at wild speed, the remainder of the month actually becomes 3,912 days, and we hate to see her leave but we looooove to watch her and all her unrealistically high expectations go. And for us she’s going out with THREE *SOLD OUT* Dina Martina shows that we, as a collective, are flarpin’ HOT and BOTHERED for. (FYI, usually one says that one is hot and bothered BY something, but we are hot and bothered FOR this. We ran this by a Grammarian who CONFIRMED our use of the English language is both masterful and “unexpected.” Wow. Accolades like that? At the beginning of a week? That sounds sad but it was all justified. Still, our hearts go out to anyone she… frightened. Don’t be ageist!  What we're trying to say is, cute lil Meemaws can be bad people too. We had a nice one our ding-dang-selves, and we loooooved RAMY YOUSSEF’S two *SOLD OUT!* shows on Saturday. Ramy is an expert storyteller, holding onto threads long after the audience forgets they’re there, tying everything together so causally and delightfully. If you weren’t there, all we can say is “Poor Thing”(s). Also, you KNOW we don’t kiss and tell, but we didn’t kiss him so we can tell… we had a DAFOE in DAHOUSE. Willem? We just met ‘im! WOW.  Thus far, our January has really been a PLANuary. We’ve been laying stones for the future, talkin’ strategy, and deciding which of our wild hares to chase first. Planning feels… unflirty. Anyone else? We’re so excited to get back into creative play mode, but also glad we’re getting a framework in place that will make our play more focused n’ fruitful (that’s also the name of a medicated cereal for ADHD folks we want to roll out this year). Anywayyyy, this is just a tip of the hat to anyone else going through the slightly trudgey ground, we see you and YOU’LL BE GLAD YOU DID THIS! View Our Calendar Here →  Haaappy New Yearrrr!  And to those of you who celebrated with us at the theater in epic sold-out fashion, an EXTRA happy new year. We had the time of our life Sunday/into Monday- JAM(ie) hosted with flarpin’ aplomb, which grew aplombier (drunker?) by the hour, the line-up was ALL STAR (meaning, a group of top-notch shining talented humans, not having anything to do with the Smash Mouth HIT, RIP), the DyNasties (led by b-day boy and now our full time Head of Productions Sam) were dynamite (and/though they didn’t play “All Star” by Smash Mouth), the audience was sweetie-pie HQ, the vibe was so very New Year’s, and the only mouths gettin’ smashed were the firm kisses of lovers n’ dreamers welcoming the new year. VAN(essa) was sadly on the WRONG COAST but watched all the security cameras like a freak, which is honestly the next best thing. Oh, and GM Missy now has a 5th career as a balloon installation artist (honestly, we all saw this coming miles away).  For those who observe/are destroyed by Mercury Retrograde... it's now over! So if you’ve been mired in a low-key (or high key) shitshow for the last little while, perhaps a new leaf is about to turn. And we’re praying for a looooovely leaf full of health and vitality and creativity and output and expression! (Or a WaCkY TobAckkkkiE leaf LOL! Maybe that’s what the Smash Mouth fellers were smoking when they penned that gorgeous earworm. But, as always, there is also a list of absolute angels who deserves stockings stuffed with adorable baby animals who cater to their every whim. Lookin' at you, absolute QUEEN at Delta who understood that Herbert is a perfect soul/dog. And the man in Minneapolis who let Herbert and Vanessa ride the little airport car and catch the flight! And, of course Herbert himself, who if not technically considered a Psychological Service Dog prior to this date, has certainly earned the distinction now. Vanessa having hair left on her head, and the Pretzel Person’s survival are absolute proof.
